I'm so excited to be able to share this adorable advent calendar with you!
This has always been one of my favourite DIY projects (you may have seen it when I was working as Love From Ginger).
It's really easy to make, looks gorgeous on your mantle and makes the month of December super special no matter whether you celebrate Christmas or not.
- Wooden board 15cm x 25cm
- Wood stain
- Paint brush
- Printed Advent Calendar download
- Tooth picks
- Washi tape
Cut out your christmas trees and stick the toothpicks on the back with washi tape.
It's important to do this step first so you can line up your trees on your board accurately.
Write all of your activities for the month of December - one per tree. Christmas is in summer where I live so I always add activities like "Beach day", "Head to the waterslides" or "Outdoor movie night".
This advent calendar is so much fun because it means you're spending time all through December with friends and family doing fun stuff (and not just eating chocolate every morning when you open the next advent day!).
Measure out where you want your trees to go.
I lined my up 5 across and 4 deep but staggered so they weren't in a straight line. There are no rules to this part, just make sure you can fit your trees across and down.
Follow the instructions for your drill and drill your holes. You want them to be just a little bigger than the width of a toothpick.
Follow the instructions for your wood stain to stain your wood.
Make sure you let it dry (I know that's hard - I'm always so keen to go to the next step!).
Now pop your trees into their places on the board and you're done!
I really like the typography on these little trees. The colours are really bright - perfect for a modern Christmas.
I'd love to know what activities you're putting on your trees. Let me know in the comments below.
I hope you're as excited about the Christmas season approaching as I am! I can't wait for this beautiful time of year to start.
